I miss Jerry Garcia...as Bongo said, there's a Jerry-shaped hole in my life. Those of you who understand, understand. Those of you who don't, missed out.

If you have never really listened to the Dead, it's not too late. Start by getting American Beauty and Workingman's Dead. Then pick up a live album or two...Europe '72, Without a Net, or one of the Dick's Picks. Supposedly you can hear a live recording by linking to this place but you need realaudio on your pc or macintosh which you can download for free (but check for viruses before running) from http://www.realaudio.com I haven't tried it yet.
However, I do have a sample for you..15 sec of st stephen from aoxomoxoa (it's a .wav file).
I'm on the Wheel, which is a renegade listserv (plus much much more!) that broke off from rec.music.gdead (aka dead-flames) in, gee, 1990. We started out as half a dozen, and now we are over 100. It's an experiment in virtual community, or perhaps virtual pioneering and homesteading. You can read a little about it in the FAQ available at the anonymous ftp site operated by Mark Kraitchman (login as "anonymous" and use your email address as password).
But I like lots of rock and roll. I like going out to nightclubs. [Not that I know hardly anyone else who likes to...which leads me to believe that I need to move back to the bay area,{back to Professional} where maybe I can find someone who likes rock and roll by night and hiking by day (or other fun outdoorsy things)...but I digress.] Favorite musicians include (but not necessarily in this order: Neil Young, Frank Zappa (z'l), Bonnie Raitt, Jorma Kaukonen, Santana, Phish, Dr. John, Pearl Jam, Lyle Lovett, Bill Monroe, Koko Taylor, Etta James, and so forth. Note that I also like blues a lot, and generally I listen to classical music. But not baroque, except Verdi and Vivaldi.
One of the best, if not the best, radio stations in the world, KPIG, in Santa Cruz, California, is a good resource for musical web pages... Back to the Home page
